HOT WING CHICKEN & WAFFLES
For fried chicken:
1 lb Chicken Breast, cut into strips
2 c buttermilk
½ c Elda’s Kitchen Hot Wing Mix
4 cups vegetable or canola oil, or shortening
2 c flour
½ t salt
½ t pepper
1 t garlic powder
3 eggs, beaten
2 cups square corn cereal, crushed up
For waffles:
1 mixture of your favorite waffle batter, made up and ready to cook
1 cup of shredded cheese
1 T garlic powder
For syrup:
½ stick of butter
¼ c brown sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 ½ T pure maple syrup
Elda’s Kitchen Hot Wing sauce to taste
Instructions:
- Combine buttermilk and hot wing mix in a large bowl
- Soak chicken breast strips in buttermilk mixture from at least 2 hours to overnight.
- Add oil or shortening to large pot and heat on medium
- Combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl
- Add chicken breast strips to seasoned flour mixture then in egg mixture until evenly covered
- Roll in the crushed corn cereal until evenly covered
- Add chicken to hot oil and fry until chicken is done (about 4 – 5 minutes) (can also be baked in the oven)
- For the waffles, mix up your waffle batter of choice
- Fold in cheese and garlic powder
- Cook waffles as desired
- Melt butter over medium heat
- Add brown sugar to pan and stir until butter and brown sugar are dissolved
- Add salt and stir to combine
- Turn heat down, then add maple syrup and stir to combine
- Add desired amount of Hot Wing Sauce and stir to combine
- Allow to cook down and thicken up (about five minutes)
- Plate the waffle and chickens with syrup and enjoy!
