1940s MEAT AND POTATO PATTIES
featuring
Elda’s Kitchen Garlic & Herb Cooking & Grilling Sauce
An Elda’s Kitchen twist on a traditional 1940s dish, this recipe for meat and potato patties is a hearty comfort meal that’s simple to make. While we shredded the potatoes by hand, you can save time by buying your potatoes shredded.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 8oz bottle of Elda’s Kitchen Garlic and Herb Cooking and Grilling Sauce
- 2 tablespoons bacon grease
- 1 lb potatoes, shredded
- 1 onion, grated
- 1 egg
- Dash kosher salt
- Dash of cracked black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder

Directions
Shred potatoes by hand with a large cheese grater. Rinse and drain thoroughly using a cheesecloth and some hearty squeezing. The potatoes need to be dry to cook properly, so consider leaving on paper towels to dry completely before continuing if you feel they’re still very wet.
In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, shredded potatoes, and grated onion. Using your hands, mix together to combine. Next, add Elda’s Kitchen Garlic and Herb Cooking & Grilling Sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and egg, and continue to use hands to combine ingredients thoroughly.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add bacon grease and coat the pan completely. Using a medium ice cream scoop, form patties out of the meat and potato mix. Place 2 to 3 patties on your skillet and press lightly with a metal spatula to flatten. Cook patties until golden on one side, then flip. Let cook until golden on both sides (we recommend flipping only once for a tender, moist patty). Remove from pan and Enjoy!
