SLOPPY THEOS
A Theo’s Steakhouse take on a favorite finger food—Sloppy Joes! Kick this classic recipe up a notch with the sweet, heat, and mesquite of Theo’s Steakhouse cooking & grilling sauce.
Ingredients
- An 8oz bottle of Elda’s Kitchen Theo’s Steakhouse Cooking & Grilling Sauce
- 2 lbs of ground beef (we prefer 80/20!)
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 and ½ cups of ketchup
- A splash of Worcestershire Sauce
- Kosher salt
Spice Mix
- 2 teaspoons ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika

Directions
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown your ground beef. While it is still a little pink, drain the fat and continue to cook. Add the onion and stir to mix. After a few minutes, add your red pepper and stir. After another minute or two, add brown sugar and garlic and stir to coat. After another couple of minutes, add half a bottle of Theo’s Steakhouse Cooking & Grilling Sauce. Heat through until bubbling and then add your spice mix and stir. Let cook for a good 4-5 minutes.
Next, add your ketchup, stirring to coat. Let heat through again, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
After warmed through and bubbling, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce and a few pinches of salt.
Let simmer for 15 minutes.
While your filling is simmering, take your buns of choice and toast them (either in a toaster over, on the stove top, or in the oven).
Remove your filling from the heat, heap a hearty serving onto your bun, and enjoy!
